Through the design and simulation of the new screw, the axial pressure curve of the screw is ensured to meet the requirements of gas injection and gas pressure holding. It effectively reduces the gas influx at the beginning of the gas injection and prevents pre-foaming of entrained gas melt before injection. The newly designed periodic gas injection system and the control system of the injection molding machine are effectively linked. During the gas injection process, the air pressure of the gas injection system and the melt pressure at the corresponding position of the barrel maintain a fixed pressure difference. High-quality microbubbles with an average cell length of 30-40 microns and a cell density of 1.6-2x (10^6/cm^3) were made with general-purpose polystyrene (GPPS) and nitrogen gas.
With a Ph.D. in Materials Science from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Dr. Ryan Li has extensive experience in evaluating the rheological performance of various materials, including coatings, printing inks, electronic adhesives, hot-melt adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives, structural adhesives, asphalt, rubber elastomers, everyday chemicals, food, and pharmaceutical preparations. He has guided the development of rheological methods for many enterprises' product performance evaluation, assisting them in establishing rheological test methods and standard procedures and is one of the few specialists in rheology who can integrate theory, real-world application, and business experience.
The rheological properties of the melt play a decisive role in the molding of polymer foams, and effective molding is an important means of forming a specific performance structure. Therefore, an in-depth understanding of the rheological factors in the foam molding process and their influence on the end-product properties is not only scientifically important but also has practical application value. To help related practitioners quickly understand the technical tools for polymer foaming materials, from molding to performance characterization, this seminar methodically introduces the impact of rheology on polymer foaming and the characterization of the thermal and mechanical properties of end products.

Having established market potential, Fabrice set up sales channels throughout Europe and employed a direct sales person in Germany before moving on to Zotefoams core business as Business Development Manager for Europe. Dr. Bart Haelterman graduated in Chemical Science in 1992 and obtained a PhD in Chemical Science at the University of Leuven in 1996. He worked for INEOS as an R&D responsible from 1996 till 2001 and subsequently was in charge of 3 batch and continuous world scale production units from 2001 till 2006.
He joined Recticel in 2006 as R&D manager in automotive chemical and technological field. In 2013, he got the position of R&D portfolio manager responsible for definition of projects in the fields of insulation, bedding, flexible foams and sustainability. Since 2016, he was appointed as Innovation Manager Corporate Sustainability and from 2017 additionally Corporate HS&E and Sustainability Manager and is active in several industrial organisations as EUROPUR and essenscia.
Since June 2023, he is appointed as Vice President R&D and Sustainability EMEA/APAC, at Carpenter Co, heading of sustainability activities, defining the ESG strategy and CSRD implementation and head of R&D and sustainable innovation with 70 FTEs at 10 global R&D centers, at Carpenter Co. organized around two poles: Living & Care and Mobility & Interior Foams.
